HIGH STEER KNUCKLES |
What’s the difference between a high steer knuckle and a standard knuckle?
Standard Knuckles place the steering arm lower on the knuckle, often at or near the factory height. That’s fine for stock vehicles or mild builds. But when you start lifting your vehicle, running bigger tires, or crawling through boulders, the limitations and problems of a standard knuckle become painfully obvious—literally.
Here’s what sets our Dynatrac High Steer Knuckles apart:
1. Improved Steering Geometry
When you lift a vehicle, the drag link and tie rod angle downward steeply from the steering box to the axle. This creates bump steer, reduces control, and puts massive strain on steering components. Our high steer knuckles move the steering arm mounting points upward, allowing a much flatter steering geometry.
That means less bump steer, smoother handling, and more predictable control off-road and on-road.
2. Protection for Steering Components
One of the biggest killers of tie rods and drag links is rock damage—especially when components hang low under the axle. With high steer knuckles, we raise those critical steering links up and out of harm’s way.
Our knuckles are CNC-machined from high-strength steel or ductile iron, depending on application, so not only are your links higher, but the knuckle itself is built to take abuse that would destroy OE parts.
3. Increased Strength & Compatibility
We designed our ProSteer™ High Steer Knuckles to be significantly stronger than stock. They’re made specifically to work with our Dynatrac ProRock axles and engineered around our 1550 axle shaft technology, so they’re fully compatible with high-performance u-joints, ball joints, and large-diameter tie rods.
Standard knuckles, even when modified, just don’t offer this kind of bolt-on compatibility with heavy-duty, high-clearance components.
4. Better Packaging for Hydro Assist and Custom Steering
If you’re running hydro assist steering, double shear steering arms, or custom steering setups, our high steer knuckles give you the platform to do it right. We machine them with the options and hardware to support bolt-on solutions, and we do it with the kind of precision you can count on.
Standard knuckles, in comparison, often require major modifications or unsafe compromises to mount those kinds of systems.
Bottom Line: Why We Built Them
We don’t just build high steer knuckles because they’re cool—we built them because we got tired of watching builders struggle with steering issues that could be solved with smart geometry and bulletproof materials.
Our high steer knuckles aren’t just stronger—they solve multiple problems in one shot:
- Flatter steering = better control
- Higher arms = more protection
- Stronger build = more reliability
- Purpose-built = no compromise
When you're ready to go beyond the limits of OEM geometry and get serious about your steering system, our Dynatrac High Steer Knuckles are the foundation you can count on.
